i'll teach you football... i'll teach you anything, just don't eat me

so i'm a bit late for this week's picks a) because it's been a trying week and an even busier weekend so far, b) i'm still in total baseball mode and c) because i'm rather embarrassed that i got only 4 out of 14 right last week... oh well, at least i'm secure in my other picking job (at least on a week-to-week basis), so without further ado, here we go with this week's picks (home team in CAPS) for week 4 with some more commentary/analysis to come later...

PATS (-5.5) over chargers
injuries really hurt pats but other than lt, san diego isn't that good and pats will have pulled together even more after last week's huge win

broncos (+4) over JAGUARS
j'ville - and its awesome D - wins the game close as denver can't get quite right after short week so far from home

BENGALS (-9.5) over texans
cincy has that flavor of the month feel, but houston - despite coming off a bye and firing its o-coordinator - just stinks

TITANS (+7) over colts
is this the week manning and the colts O finally busts out? i say probably, but home team plays tough, keeps it close

CHIEFS (-2) over eagles
kc is so tough at home and philly is just too banged up to beat a good team away from the crib

BUCS (-6.5) over lions
tampa and cadillac williams are for real and detroit, which has won like 2 road games in the last decade, is currently self-destructing yet again

GIANTS (-3) over rams
even though they got rocked last week, the giants are on the upswing and does anyone really think st. louis can beat a decent team outside on the road?

SAINTS (pick) over bills
sloppy saints will be jazzed for their first "home" game in san antonio against supremely overrated buffalo

REDSKINS (-2) over seahawks
this is a tough one (both teams are totally mediocre) so we'll play the percentages and go with the home team by a field goal

jets (+7) over RAVENS
ravens win due to defense and NY qb woes, but baltimore's so bad as well, look for something like a 7-6 final

FALCONS (-6) over vikings
there, now that the vikes got that first win at home against another crappy team out of the way, they and coach tice will return to the land of the lousy

RAIDERS (-3) over cowboys
oakland, which has looked as good as an 0-3 team can, has to win and playing road-weary dallas at home helps the cause

49ers (+2.5) over CARDINALS
residents of mexico city get to watch two of the league's worst teams in what could be the season's worst game

packers (+7.5) over PANTHERS
carolina wins a close one at home as it just keeps getting worse for brett favre and company

last week: 4-10
season: 4-10
